Amazon EC2 Container Service allows you to use simple API calls to start and terminate container-enabled apps, query the state of your cluster from a centralised service, and use many familiar Amazon EC2 features including security groups, EBS volumes, and IAM roles. You may arrange the deployment of containers across your cluster using the EC2 Container Service, depending on your resource demands, isolation constraints, and availability requirements.

You don't have to worry about expanding your management infrastructure or running your own cluster management and configuration management tools using Amazon EC2 Container Service..

Amazon ECS key features

  • AWS Fargate is serverless by default: Because AWS Fargate is built-in to Amazon ECS, you won't have to worry about managing servers, capacity planning, or finding out how to segregate container workloads for security.Simply describe your application's requirements, choose Fargate as your launch type in the console or CLI, and Fargate will handle all of the scaling and infrastructure management for you.
  • Amazon ECS Anywhere: With ECS Anywhere, you can manage your on-premises container workloads using the same familiar Amazon ECS console and operator tools for a consistent experience across your container-based applications.
  • Amazon ECS is built with security and isolation in mind, and it interacts with the security, identity, management, and governance systems you already use, allowing you to go to production fast and successfully. You may give each of your containers granular rights, providing you a high level of isolation when developing your applications. Launch your containers with the same degree of security and compliance that you've come to expect from Amazon Web Services.
