Crystal Methodologies

Crystal Methodologies

Crystal Methodologies are a series of approaches used for developing software. The premise of these techniques is that each project is unique and it requires individual strategies. If one strategy is working fine for one project, then it doesn't need to be ideal for another one. As a result, crystal processes are developed to fit the specific needs of the product. Similarly, the goal is to enhance the uniqueness of the product by applying multiple approaches specially tailored for the specific project.

The salient features of the crystal model are as follows:

  1. It is a set of human-friendly methodologies, which emphasizes felicity and simplicity.
  2. It is a human-centered approach in which, decisions are based on the collaborative idea of the team.
  3. There is no such need for documentation in this methodology.

Working of Crystal Methodology:

It works through different methods which are symbolized by different colors. These approaches are called “Crystal of the system”.

  1. Crystal Clear: In this, the team comprises 1 to 6 members. This approach is ideal for short-term tasks.r
  2. Crystal Orange: The range of team members in this is 21-40. In this, the complex tasks get broken into smaller fragments. Each member of the team gets the task according to his expertise. This is ideal for projects who take a time of 2 years.
  3. Crystal Yellow: This team works under the influence of users' feedback. The team is responsible to improve the product at regular intervals. It has members ranging from 7-to 20.
  4. Crystal Orange Web: The team size is the same as an orange. The major difference is that the code formed by the members continuously evolves according to the demand.
  5. Crystal Red: This comprises relatively a larger team, usually ranging from 40-80 members. This is suitable for long projects where people with multiple intelligence are needed.
  6. Crystal Maroon: This is also used for larger projects. Where the departments are formed for each task.
  7. Crystal Diamond or Sapphire: This is particularly exclusive for larger and critical projects. Projects where there is a risk to human life.
