Rationality

Rationality

The state of being reasonable, sensible, and having a sound sense of judgement is known as rationality.

Rationality is concerned with the predicted behaviours and outcomes based on the agent's perceptions. An essential aspect of rationality is taking activities intending to collect valuable knowledge.

What is an Ideal Rational Agent?

On the premise of, an ideally rational agent can perform expected behaviours to maximize its performance measure.

  1. Its perceptual order
  2. Its pre-installed knowledge base
  3. An agent's rationality is determined by the following:

The performance indicators that indicate how successful a project is.

  1. Agent's Percept Sequence up to this point.
  2. The agent's prior understanding of the surroundings.
  3. The acts that the agent is capable of doing.

On the premise of, an ideally rational agent can perform expected behaviours to maximize its performance measure.

The following factors influence rational behavior:-

  • Metrics of performance (goals)
  • Sequences of perceptions
  • Environmental awareness is important.
  • Actions that could be taken

Given the evidence offered by the percept sequence and whatever built-in knowledge the agent has, a rational agent should choose an anticipated action to maximize its performance measure for each feasible percept sequence.

To avoid trivialization, active perception is required.

The function determines how the ideal rational agent acts.
